Director General of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Martha Chizuma, has today made her first appearance to the public after her controversial arrest earlier this week.

She is attending International Anti-Corruption Day commemoration is which taking place at Kasungu Stadium.

President Lazarus Chakwera is expected to preside over the event which is being held under the theme Fight Corruption, Protect Malawi’s Future.

Chizuma was arrested on Tuesday, December 6, 2022 in connection with a leaked audio clip in January in which she was discussing work related issues with unknown individual.

But after public uproar, Chizuma was released on police bail after being charged with making use of speech capable of prejudicing a person against a party to judicial proceedings contrary to section 131(1) d of the penal code.

Then President Lazarus Chakwera ordered for withdrawal of her charges unconditionally.

Minister of Justice Titus Mvalo has assured the public that Chizuma will be executing her duties as ACB Czar like before.
