In Kenya’s history, presidents right from the time of Mzee Jomo Kenyatta to most recently Uhuru Kenyatta always surrounded themselves by men and women who would help them in administration.

These men and women may or may not hold official positions and advise the president on key matters of governance even as they yield immense powers.

Subsequently, The Nation has done a compilation and revealed that ministry of interior and national administration cabinet secretary Prof Kithure Kindiki is a key member of Ruto’s 12-member kitchen cabinet owing to their official and informal relationship.

The same case is said of Interior PS Raymond Omollo, a key cog in Ruto’s kitchen cabinet who is said to have played a key part in his Nyanza region campaigns.

The third and fourth members of Ruto’s kitchen cabinet are deputy president Rigathi Gachagua and prime cabinet secretary Musalia Mudavadi who are said to be very close to the Head of state.

Musalia is said to have the ear of the president especially due to his experience in economic matters.

Others are communication authority of Kenya chairperson Mary Wambui, Kenya revenue authority (KRA) chairperson Anthony Mwaura and economist David Ndii.

Also on this list is chief of staff and head of public service Felix Kosgei and state house comptroller Katoo Ole Metito.

Businessman Joshua Kipchumba Chepkwony of Jamii Telkom, former National Bank board chairperson Mohamed Hassan, Dr Augustine Cheruiyot of the economic transformation secretariat and national assembly deputy speaker Gladys Boss Sholei belong to Ruto’s kitchen cabinet.
