The Malawi Health Equity Network (MHEN) has proposed to employ all qualified healthcare workers who are jobless in 2023/24 fiscal year.

MHEM has additionally asked government to provide uniforms for the health workers because currently they buy for themselves.

Executive Director for MHEM, George Jobe has today asked Ministry of finance Sosten Gwengwe during the budget consultation meeting in Lilongwe to increase budget of health sector with 15 percent and that it should focus much at primary health sector.

“Complete the recapitalization of Central Medical stores Trust, complete construction of the Cancer center, increase budgets for non-communicable diseases and for mental health,” Jobe said.

In addition to that, Jobe asked government to provide fund for electricity backups at the hospitals due to blackouts.
