Residents of communities under Traditional Authority Ngabu in Chikwawa, Malawi, are calling for justice after a man, identified as Noel Thom, allegedly impregnated his own biological daughter.

Group village heads Mphamba, Malemia, Misongwe, and Thonje have threatened to take the law into their own hands if police fail to arrest the suspect.

According to Yusuf Naison, chairperson of the Ngabu Victim Support Committee, Thom allegedly impregnated his daughter in 2021, and it is not the first time he has committed such an act.

Naison also alleged that Thom impregnated his wife in the same year, and now both women have babies, one five months old and the other four months old.

Naison accused the Ngabu police of failing to arrest the suspect, claiming that they are aware of the issue but have failed to act due to corruption.

He said, “It is something we have never witnessed before.”

District community policing coordinator, Kingsley Mvuthe, has pledged to investigate the incident and take necessary action.

He said “We take this allegations very seriously and will be investigating this thoroughly and take appropriate action.”

The alleged incident has sparked outrage in the community, and residents are calling for swift action to be taken against the suspect and any police officers involved in corruption.
