The Center for Democracy and Economic Development Initiative (Cdedi) and the Lilongwe City Council conducted an inspection of Central Poultry 2000 Ltd’s Dude Farm to assess compliance with waste management regulations.
Led by Executive Director Sylvester Namiwa, Cdedi officials were joined by representatives from the Lilongwe City Council, including Director of Health and Social Services Jorlex Kamtokoma.
The inspection followed the closure of the farm on January 3, 2023, after it was found to have established a compositing center on the premises that posed a health hazard due to the strong odors it emitted. The farm management, led by Temweka Kazembe, staff development, and on-board specialist, provided a tour of the facilities, and it was determined that Central Poultry had fulfilled the directive to remove solid waste and close the manure-making site.
