A tragic incident occurred at Chisombezi Primary School in Bangwe, when a six-year-old boy drowned in a homemade well in front of his parents’ house.

The owner of the compound, where the well is located, said that the child, Henry Banda, went missing on Wednesday and was found this morning by his mother when she went to clean the toilet, which is located just a few meters from the well.

According to the owner, the community had been drawing water from the well without realizing that the boy was under the water. It was not until this morning that the boy’s body was discovered.

The community pulled the boy’s body out of the well.

Blantyre police are yet to comment on the matter
