Limbe police cracked on porn hubs in Limbe market and areas around where the young and old gathered to watch pornography.
According to the police, video showrooms had gone on showing the explicit videos in the course of the days to audience that was as young as five.
“To disguise the acts going on, the showrooms played music on high volumes in speakers outside while inside there were people watching the 18+ rated movies, ” said Limbe police deputy spokesperson, sergeant Pedzisai Zembeneko.
In the exercise, 60 people were arrested which included both patrons and owners of the showrooms.
Pornography production, distribution and consumption is illegal in Malawi even though lately there have been cases of such things surfacing to reality with little consequences.
