Malawi’s National Planning Commission (NPC) recently held the 2023 National Development Conference, with Vice President Saulos Chilima in attendance.

The conference, which was held under the theme ‘Malawi 2063 One Year On; Forging Concerted Efforts on the Journey to Wealth Creation and Self-Reliance’, aimed to review the progress of the first year of the 10-year Malawi Implementation Plan (MIP-1).

MIP-1 is part of the larger MW2063 development blueprint, which has set the goal of transforming Malawi from a least developed country to a lower-middle income economy by the year 2030.

During the conference, experts discussed the progress of the MIP-1 and the steps that need to be taken to achieve the blueprint’s vision.

Chilima expressed his encouragement with the conference, stating that it was a positive step in the right direction towards the goal of wealth creation and self-reliance for Malawi.

The Vice President’s attendance at the conference highlights the government’s commitment to making meaningful progress towards this goal.
