The Department of Disaster Management Affairs (DoDMA) has warned of imminent flooding in the Lower Shire following a heavy downpour in most parts of the country.

In a statement signed by Commissioner for Disaster Management Affairs, Charles Kalemba has called upon people to move to upland areas.

“To immediately move to safer and higher areas and avoid crossing rivers and walking through running water, to save lives and property.

“Rising water levels in the Shire River might trigger flooding in Shire Valley if the rains persist,” reads in part the statement.
