Nkhata-Bay Boys’ Secondary School, under the Mzuzu diocese of the Catholic Church, experienced a disruption of lessons today after form four students set fire to the administration block last night.
Reports indicate that the students were protesting the management’s decision to expel one of their colleagues for bullying form one students.
According to Education Coordinator for Mzuzu diocese, Remie Kamanga, the situation at the school has calmed down, but some students have escaped from campus.
Nkhata-Bay police spokesperson, Sergeant Kondwani James, stated that police have been deployed to the school to restore order, but no arrests have been made thus far.
