Political activist, Joshua Chisala Mbele has advised Social media influencer Pemphero Mphande to drop all court charges against Telekom Networks Malawi (TNM) and TNM Mphamba Service.

Mphande sued the service provider for negligence, breach of statutory duty, and defamation, among other claims.

Mphande’s lawyer, Geofrey Taumbe, who confirmed the development said the lawsuit is based on the fact that some people are able to register phone numbers on the TNM network under Mphande’s name without proper documentation, and then demand money from unsuspecting individuals.

According to Mbele, he can facilitate a meeting between the two parties involved and see the way through.

“I would advise that you drop the litigation against TNM. I suggest you request the meeting with the Executives and resolve the issue amicably. I can help create that round table meeting. You may have a valid concern though,” Mbele wrote on Facebook.
Mbele added that the issue can sometimes give the impression that the person is trying to take advantage of the situation or pursue personal gain, rather than seeking justice.
“Litigation has a flip side. It presents the litigant as overly opportunistic,” Mbele added.
Meanwhile, TNM is yet to comment on the matter.
