Unknown man who is suspected to be of the age between 30 and 35 has drowned at Thumbwe River which is found in Ckikwakwata village Traditional Authority Kadewere in Chiradzulu.

According to Chiradzulo police Spokesperson Constable Cosmas Kagulo the body was found on 2 March 2023 at around 08:00 hours. It is reported that on the said date and time, some villagers wanted to cross the said river which passes through their village and discovered that there was a body which was floating in the river.

Matter was reported to the village headman who further reported it to Chiradzulu Police Station whereby CID officers accompanied by Medical officer from Chiradzulu District Hospital visited the scene and managed to retrieve the body from the water.

Postmortem was conducted and the results revealed that the death was caused by suffocation secondary to drowning.
Burial was ordered as the body was found in a decomposed state.

Police is therefore urging people to refrain from crossing rivers and streams where there are no bridges as it is one way of preventing drowning cases.
