Police in Blantyre have arrested four more suspects in connection to the failed heist at Chichiri Shopping Mall last week, as well as other robberies that have occurred in Blantyre and surrounding districts. This brings the total number of suspects in custody to 10.
According to Beatrice Mikuwa, the South West Region Police Publicist, one of the suspects is a 38-year-old ex-Malawi Defence Force Soldier named Daniel Yohane.
He was apprehended at Mapanga Malawi Prison Training School in Blantyre, where he was undergoing training to become a prison warder.
Mikuwa added that the arrests were made as a result of investigations and information received from other suspects.
The suspects have since been charged with attempted robbery and possession of offensive weapons.
