In Kitwe, a 29-year-old woman, Mable Kasanda, allegedly dumped her newborn baby boy earlier today after her first cousin, who she claims impregnated her, refused to take responsibility. According to police reports, Kasanda gave birth to the child and left him in a secluded area before fleeing the scene.
Upon receiving a tip-off from concerned citizens, the police arrived at the scene to find the baby boy in critical condition. He was rushed to the hospital, where he is currently receiving medical attention.
According to a police spokesperson, Kasanda has been arrested and is currently in police custody. She is expected to be charged with child endangerment and abandonment.
