Traditional leaders in the country have been urged to take a leading role in reporting crime.
The sentiment has been made by Officer in charge for Rumphi police station during the meeting with local leaders in the district
Hes said that local leaders have a role to play in reducing crime rate in the district called on traditional leaders to take a leading role reporting crime.
Nthenda also said that failing to report crime is a crime, and a threat to security as perpetrators continue causing havoc in communities.
However the plea has come as the district continues register an increase in various forms of crimes.
Commenting on the matter, Group village headman Chikalamba of Traditional Authority Chikulamayembe has vowed to work hand in hand with the police in order to enhance security.
