Police at the Zalewa roadblock in Neno have intercepted a truck loaded with charcoal without a permit. The truck, which was coming from South Africa, was being driven by Kelly Gondwe, aged 42-years.

The vehicle, owned by MKA Trucking company from South Africa, bore registration number VXV 904 GP and was carrying 100 bags of charcoal mixed with other goods destined for Nchalo Illovo Sugar company.

According to Neno police publicist, Austin Kamwendo, Gondwe was arrested for being found in possession of forestry products without a license.

He is set to appear in court soon to answer the charges.

The suspect hails from Chitimba village in the area of Traditional Authority Mwamulowe in Karonga district.
