President Lazarus Chakwera has said that the country is still looking for estimated funds amounting to 700 billion kwacha to fully recover from the effects for disasters including the most recent Cyclone Freddy.
This comes as the country is on the recovering process from cyclone Freddy.
Addressing the gathering on the sidelines of commemorating Labour Day in Lilongwe Chakwera called on international organizations to join hands for the country to overcome the daunting task of rebuilding the affected infrastructures.
Chakwera has since ordered the review of the national job strategy so that workers are protected.
He has also called on ministry of Labour to with immediate effect facilitate means that will help to contain various challenges that (MCTU) has lamented.
Meanwhile Charles Kumchenga President for Malawi Congress of Trade Union (MCTU) expressed optimism that government will work on their concerns including increasing minimum wages from 50 to 100 thousand Kwacha.
