Zambia President Hakainde Hichilema has appointed Nason Banda as the new Director General of the Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC).
Banda has replaced the Commission’s former Director General Mary Chirwa who has since been redeployed to Mozambique as an Ambassador.
Speaking during the swearing in ceremony at State House, Hichilema urged the newly appointed office bearers to deliver to the expectations of the Zambian people.
Hichilema wants the new DEC boss to eliminate crimes such as money laundering, financial crimes and incidences of drug trafficking in the country.
Others appointed includes, Morecome Mumba as Malaysian High Commissioner, Dr. Ivan Zyuulu as Chinese Ambassador, Pamela Mwelela Chisanga as High Commissioner to Bostwana, Andrew Bwezani Banda as Ambassador to the Republic of South Korea and Mazuba Bernardine Monze as High Commissioner to the Republic of South Africa.
