The Centre for Democracy and Economics Department Initiative (CDEDI) has demanded Attorney General Thabo Chakaka Nyirenda to step down alleging that he is guilty of breach of public trust.

CDEDI Executive Director Sylvester Namiwa has told journalist in Lilongwe that public officers hold positions on public trust which the AG does not have.

He said the AG’s continued disregard of their letter to explain, with evidence, how much he has recovered from the money meant for Affordable Input Programme (AIP) paid to a “butchery” in UK, shows high level impunity and executive arrogance.

Namiwa said CDEDI will hold vigils at the AG’s office begining Friday to push AG Chakaka Nyirenda to respond to their concerns.
