60-year-old Gavanala Kamanga has been found dead, his private parts and eyes removed on May 13, 2023 in Dowelamphuno hills, around Khosolo area in Mzimba.
On May 11, 2023 Gavanala went to Dowelamphuno drinking joint and did not return home. Concerned, his family members instituted a search party for him but was never found on the same day. However, on May 13, 2023 family members received a report that the missing person was found dead in the forest almost 100 metres away from the drinking joint.
The matter was reported at Emfeni police Unit and later on, at Jenda Police Station. Police officers from Jenda Police together with the medical officer from Emfeni Health Centre visited the scene of crime. They discovered that the dead body had its private parts chopped off and eyes removed.
Post-mortem conducted at Emfeni Health Centre revealed that the man died due to severe loss of blood.
Preliminary investigation indicates that the violent acts started right at the drinking joint. As a result, three individuals have been taken for questioning as potential witnesses to shed light on the events of that fateful day. It is important to note that their questioning does not imply their guilt, as the investigation is still ongoing.
Gavanala Kamanga hailed from Kamanga John Village, Traditional Authority Khosolo in Mzimba District.
