Four armed robbers are being pursued by the police in Mangochi district after injuring four individuals during a robbery on Tuesday night.
The robbers also managed to escape with K580,000 in cash. The victims, identified as Amina Anusa, Asiyatu Amos, Patuma Mkwanda, and James Mbingwani, all from Namalaka Village, Traditional Authority Namabvi, were assaulted by the robbers armed with an AK47 rifle.
Amina Anusa, who had collected rental fees earlier in the day, was targeted in her house.
The robbers, speaking Portuguese and Yao languages, threatened her life and fled with the cash, clothing, and bedding.
Upon leaving, the robbers encountered people who had come to assist the victim and fired their guns, injuring three individuals.
Namalaka Police Unit discovered two AK47 rifle cartridges at the scene.
The victims are currently receiving medical treatment at Mangochi District Hospital.
