The Pacific group of companies which is in borehole rehabilitation project says that since the inception of the project in 2015 they have fixed for free over 7,000 boreholes across 90+ constituencies.

The money spent in 2023 so far is in access of 275 million kwacha. The borehole rehabilitation project targets various constituencies across the country regardless of party affiliations, religion or tribe.

Currently the Pacific group of companies borehole rehabilitation project team is in Machinga Likwenu constituency where they are expected to repair about 60 boreholes this month.

Abdul Majid the vice team leader for Pacific Limited in an interview said that the project main objective is to see to it that the communities have easy access to safe drinking water from underground water sources pumped using boreholes.

According to Abdul Majid as of Wednesday 14 th June 2023 they have rehabilitated about 33 boreholes out of the 60 targeted boreholes in Machinga Likwenu constituency.

On his part group village headman Kamwendo of Machinga district said that he has welcomed the borehole rehabilitation project in his area. Group village headman Kamwendo further said that this is likely to reduce the spread of waterborne diseases like cholera in the area.

Group village headman Kamwendo cited villages like Chingale, Chingoni village and Chiwaya Masjidi.

He further said that women are now relieved as they are no longer walking along distance searching for water.

He has hailed the honorable MP for bringing in Pacific Limited to the rescue for his people.
