Police in Lilongwe have arrested Southern Region Football Association (SRFA) Chairman Raphael Humba for allegedly using someone’s Malawi Schools Certificate of Education MSCE certificate.
National Police spokesperson Peter Kalaya has confirmed the development and said that Humba is alleged to have benefited by using someone’s MSCE to secure a Job.
SRFA vice Chairman Kingsley Simbeyi confirmed the development but did not state the charges against his boss.
However, a son to Humba, Maurice Humba, has dismissed the claims by Police, describing it as mere football politics as his father does not possess any Certificate and he failed to contest in the 2004 Fam Executive member position, whose a minimum education requirement at the time was an MSCE, which he did not have.
Meanwhile, Kalaya has said that this the second time to arrest Humba on the same case as Balaka Police were first to arrest Humba last month but was released on bail due to health issues.
We observed that Humba was not following bail conditions,he was attending meetings, a thing that has prompted us to bring him back in custody,” he said
Humba, according to Police, will appear before court soon.
