The opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) has canceled its National Governing Council (NGC) meeting set for tomorrow (Saturday) at Nkopola Lodge in Mangochi.

The NGC meeting was organized to decide dates for elective conference of the party.

DPP Secretary General Grezelder Jeffrey has confirmed of the development in a statement made available to faceofmalawi.

The cancellation follows an injunction obtained by Deputy National Director of political affairs in the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), Billy Malata.

According to court documents, the reason for Malata obtaining the injunction is that the people who are being invited to the meeting are not members of the NGC that were elected at the 2018 convention.

In the letter signed by Jeffrey, the party says will respect the court order on the matter.
