The opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) National Governing Council (NGC) has endorsed former president Peter Mutharika as the party’s torchbearer for the 2025 elections.
The party has also moved its elective conference from this this July to July next year.
Mutharika said the change in dates has been made to allow the party to adopt constitutional changes that have been made during the NGC meeting which was held on Monday in Mangochi.
He also said the Party will in December this year hold a high level political conference to review and adopt the constitutional changes that have been made regarding the number of delegates to the convention.
Leader of opposition Kondwani Nankhumwa who is also DPP Vice President for the South is yet to comment on the matter.
