A 16 year old man has tragically took his own life by hanging himself in his bedroom following a quarrel with his grandmother.

The incident occurred on the evening of July 4, 2023.

Mangochi police spokesperson Inspector Amina Tepani Daudi has confirmed incident and identified the deceased as Ibrahim Jumbe of Kalinga village Traditional Authority Makanjira in Mangochi District.

According reports, Jumbe had engaged in a heated argument with his grandmother after he was admonished for insulting his stepsister by stating that her father was poor.

Despite his grandmother’s instructions to retract the statement, Jumbe refused and threatened to leave the house. He then packed his belongings and left them in the sitting room corner before his grandmother and sister departed for errands.

Upon their return a few hours later, Jumbe’s sister made the shocking discovery of him hanging unconscious from the bedroom’s roof. He was rushed to Makanjira Health Centre where he was pronounced dead upon arrival due to strangulation.
