Police in Kasungu have arrested two men for allegedly being found in possession of a live pangolin.
Deputy Police Public Relations Officer for Kasungu Sergeant Fatsani Kalungama, has identified the  Adam Said and Gerson Baluwa.
According to Kalungama. the suspects were arrested on July 11, 2023 at around 21:00 hours at Mposa Trading Centre along Kasungu-Mzimba M1 road.
Kalungama said police records indicate that officers from the Department of Parks and Wildlife received information from a reliable source that the two suspects were offering for sale a live pangolin at the trading centre.
“Upon receipt of information, the department’s team of officers made a follow up and managed to arrest the suspects. Seizure of a live pangolin, which was in a laptop bag, was made,” she said.
The suspects will appear before court soon to answer charges leveled against them.
Adam Saidi is 46 years-old hails from Undi Village in Traditional Authority Lulanga in Mangochi District while Gerson Baluwa is 36 years-old hails comes from Chisikwa Village in Traditional Authority Kalolo in Lilongwe District.
