Police in Mchinji have agreed to re-open Mikundi Police after discussing with communities of Senior Chief M’duwa in the district.
This comes  after a year whwn Mikundi Police Unit was demolished by irate people in the area.
Officer In-Charge John Wilson Nkhoma says the decision follows a meeting with Senior Chief M’duwa over security lapse.
On his part, Senior Chief M’duwa warned his subordinates to desist from engaging in violence against the police, promising to punish whoever incites violence in the area.
Meanwhile, the village committee responsible for the re-opening of the Police has promised to foot three-month house rentals for the police officers expected to be posted at the formation.
Mikundi Police Unit faced a similar situation back in 2015 when offices were set ablaze by some members of the surrounding communities over disagreements with police.
