Morgan Tembo from Ekwendeni ward in Mzimba North East constituency is the newly elected chairperson of the Mmbelwa District Council.

He won with an overwhelming majority of 26 votes compared to Andrew Malinga from Mabiri ward in Mzimba South, who received only 3 votes.

Tembo’s priorities as chairperson include allocating 25% of market revenue back to the community and fostering collaboration between councillors and members of Parliament to drive development in the district.

His election marks a new chapter in the council’s leadership and development efforts.
