The Public Accounts Committee of Parliament (PAC) has summoned the Reserve Bank of Malawi governor, Charles Chuka, over the leaking at the Capitol hill that has seen several arrests of civil servants and private traders and, of course, the firing of some cabinet ministers by President Banda.

It was the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) which, in making its statement on the financial and corruption scandal in Parliament, started the issue of implicating the governor of the Central bank in the land.

According to the leader of the party in the house, Dr. George Chaponda, the party was shocked that in all the stories surrounding the looting there was no mention of the Reserve bank governor which, to them, was unbelievable as all the transactions of government involve the bank.

It is in following up those allegations that the Public Accounts Committee has summoned the Reserve Bank of Malawi governor.

The governor will be meeting the members of the committee in Salima this week where, after that, a report will be presented to Parliament by the committee.
