Police in Mzuzu have arrested six men for the offense of robbery, which occurred on August 5, 2023, at Loyal Gardens Lodge within Mzuzu City.
Assistant Public Relations Officer for Mzuzu police Station, Constable Rose Chipyola, has identified the suspects as Faduwick Chiwaya, Sam Kagunda, Precious Jonathan , Issah Ibrahim, Stonarld Nkhoma, and Titus Chirwa were part of a gang of eight armed with panga knives, steel metal bars, some dressed in camouflage tops, and covering their faces with masks.
They broke into the said lodge, tying up the receptionist, and later besieged 14 rooms occupied by different governmental and non-governmental officials, robbing them of belongings valued at over 7 million kwacha.
The police were tipped off about the incident, leading to an outright investigation that resulted in the arrest of the six suspects.
Detectives have since recovered some of the stolen items, including six laptops, nineteen cell phones, and ninety thousand Kwacha in cash. Additionally, the vehicle Suzuki Wagon with registration number BZ 2156, suspected to have been used in committing this crime, has been seized.
Meanwhile, ongoing inquiries aim to effect more arrests and recover the remaining stolen items. The suspects, whose origins span across various regions will soon appear in court  to answer applicable charges.
