Barely a few days after staff from the Kamuzu Central Hospital took to the doors of Parliament, another group has joined in the trooping to the August house: teachers.

Teachers from Lilongwe have today marched to Parliament to present a petition to the Speaker of the house, Henry Chimunthu-Banda, over a policy introduced by the Ministry of Education that has seen banks failing to give out loans to the teachers.

According to information sourced, since this year the ministry has been refusing to release money to banks that are owed by teachers, a development that has made the banks stop their benevolence towards the lower paid teachers.

It has further been argued by the teachers that the Ministry has instructed the banks to stop issuing the loans to the teachers. It is this development that has, therefore, forced the teachers to take their grievances to parliament.
