A 69 year old man in Dowa identified as Lidson Chaduka has died after excessively drinking beer on an empty stomach.

Public Relations Officer for Dowa police Alice Sitima, has confirmed the death and said that Chaduka was found dead at Chimzimu village on Tuesday morning 22 August 2023.

“It is reported that Chaduka along with his wife on August 21, went to attend a tombstone unveiling ceremony for his brother in-law, within Chimzimu village.

“On their way home, Chabuka stopped at a drinking joint where he got very drunk and did not manage to get home. However, the following morning he was found dead in a dry stream within the village,” said Sitima.

She said after the wife had already been notified, the matter was reported to Mvera Police Unit which visited the scene accompanied by a medical officer.

Postmortem conducted established that death was due to hypoglycemia secondary to drinking on an empty stomach.
