President Dr Lazarus Chakwera has officially unveiled First Capital Bank (FCB) as the anchor sponsor of the Presidential Charity Golf Tournament in a ceremony held today at Kamuzu Palace in Lilongwe.

In his address, Chakwera commended the bank for this remarkable gesture, stating that the partnership truly reflects effective corporate social responsibility.

“I am honored to unveil First Capital Bank as our anchor sponsor. This is a significant development, and we will use the funds for their intended purpose, continuing to help those facing challenges, providing relief to those affected by Cyclone Freedy, and supporting needy students in various universities,” said Chakwera.

Chakwera further said that the funds raised during the Presidential Charity Golf Tournament will be channeled to two critical areas: assisting those affected by Cyclone Freddy and supporting needy students.

Speaking earlier, the Chief Executive of First Capital Bank (FCB), Agness Jazza, stated that the bank has made a 100 million Kwacha donation to complement the government’s efforts in assisting those in need, including needy students and those affected by Cyclone Freddy.

Jazza further said the bank is committed to supporting the government in uplifting Malawians in various developmental sectors. She mentioned that the bank has already sponsored 500 needy students in various public universities, secondary schools, and primary schools through their initiative, with plans to continue doing so.

The Presidential Charity Golf Tournament is scheduled to take place next month on 7th October, 2023 at Lilongwe Golf Club, and President Lazarus Chakwera is expected to attend the event.
