Police in Zomba have arrested 43-year old, Rashid Madengu on allegation that he killed his wife, Elina Luna, 37, who was discovered dead on September 1, 2023.
Zomba Police Station Deputy Public Relations Officer, Aaron Chilala confirmed the arrest of Madengu and the death of Luna who was discovered dead on a floor of their latrine at Chinamwali Township in the city of Zomba where the two stayed.
“The matter was reported to police who rushed to the scene and took the body to Zomba Central Hospital,” said Chilala.
Postmortem conducted at the hospital revealed that Luna died due to strangulation.
He said soon after the incident, Zomba Police Station detectives launched investigations and arrested Madengu who will soon appear before court on murder charges.
