A man has been found dead in Dowa after allegedly being assaulted by unknown people who had caught him house breaking and were in the process of taking him to police, before abandoning him on the way.
Dowa police spokesperson Alice Sitima has identified the deceased as 34-year-old Baba Chimalizeni who was found dead on September 13.
Postmortem established that Chimalizeni’s death was due to severe head injuries.
“Meanwhile, police in the district have launched a manhunt for the assailants behind the murder,” said Sitima.
