The Malawi Police Service (MPS) has linked arrested activist Bon Kalindo to a case dating back to 2021, where he claimed in an interview with Rainbow Television that he had knowledge of people behind killings of persons with albinism.

It is said that Kalindo was not honoring some of the bail conditions of the case.

Kalindo was arrested and charged with publishing false news likely to cause fear and public alarm before being granted bail.

National Police Spokesperson Peter Kalaya has confirmed of the development in a statement made available to this publication.

According to Kalaya, one of the conditions for Kalindo’s bail was that he should be reporting to National Police Headquarters every fortnight and that Kalindo last honoured that condition on April 26 2023.

Kalindo is expected to be taken to court on Monday next week.
