Arrested lawyer who was former Minister of Justice, Ralph Kasambara, and his team of lawyers have refused that he be transferred to Lilongwe under the Police this morning for him to be interrogated at the Police headquarters at Area 30.

Citing the witness protection act or whistleblower act, the team has argued that their client cannot and will not travel to Lilongwe with the Police unless government signs an affidavit that he will be safe in their hands.

Kasambara, a well-known lawyer himself though controversial oftentimes, has argued that he does not only want to be interrogated by the Police but he as well wants to be interviewed by parliament on the Cash-gate saga.

His team of lawyers have said that if Kasambara does not get that assurance from the Malawi government then it is better for them to keep him in police custody in Mzuzu until after the expiry of the 48 hour period when he will have to get his bail and travel to Lilongwe on his own.
