Kanengo Police in Lilongwe is keeping in custody two men for suspecting them that they are connected to series of robbery in the city.
Assistant Public Relations Officer for Kanengo Police Station Constable Linly Mwale has identified the the suspects as Gabriel Mphatso and Emmanuel Tilivoliyo.
According to Mwale, during the night of September 13 2023, at around 23:00 hours, unknown criminals, armed with panga knives, crowbars and picks broke into Falcon Gas Limited offices where they attacked 2 G4s security guards.
The team among others, covered the guards’ faces with pieces of cloth before tying their hands and legs with strings.
Mwale continued saying that the gang stole assorted items such as 2 Lenovo laptops, 1 TVS motorcycle, 1 set of XP Desktop computer, 2 red Ador welding machines, 1 tool box and 3 BOSCH batteries among, others all costing over K10 million.
“Following the report, officers have been carrying out investigations leading to arrest of the two and the recovery of the items. Meanwhile, further investigations are still underway to trace and arrest the remaining suspects”, she said.
The two will soon appear before court of law answer a charge of robbery.
Gabriel Mphatso is 28 years old hails from Gwire Village, Traditional Authority Kabudula in Lilongwe while Tilivoliyo is 34 years old hails from Sitole Village, Traditional Authority Mlonyeni in Mchinji.
