The opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) has said it will appeal at the Supreme Court the ruling calling the party to call for an elective conference within a period of 90 days.

DPP spokesperson Shadreck Namalomba has confirmed of the development in an interview with the press.

According to Namalomba, the party’s central executive committee met on Saturday to deliberate on the High Court’s outcome, which also nullified all resolutions which were made during the party’s extraordinary meeting held in Mangochi three months ago.

“At this moment, we ask our supporters to remain calm and focused,” said Namalomba.

Meanwhile, reinstated DPP spokesperson Nicholas Dausi has said that the party will comply with the court order.

“As a law abiding party, DPP will comply with the ruling, our President Professor Peter Mutharika and Secretary general Grezelder Jeffrey must call for Central Committee meeting to discuss how the convention should be conducted”. said Dausi.
