Malawians will have to wait a little longer for the Disaster Risk Management Act of 2023 to start operating in the country.
The Act according to the authorities was aimed at, among others, mitigate the impact of disasters in the country.
However, despite being assented to by president Lazarus Chakwera a few months ago, the Act is yet to be implemented.
Earlier, government through the Department of Disaster Management Affairs (DODMA), responsible for its execution, had indicated that there was a need to gather input for regulations that align with the Act.
