The Football Association of Malawi (FAM) has imposed a K1.2 million fine on Chancy Gondwe, the board secretary and legal adviser of Mighty Mukuru Wanderers, following his conviction on three counts of misconduct.

This disciplinary action stems from an interview Gondwe gave to the online publication Waganyu, in which he commented on the abandoned Airtel Top 8 quarter-final first leg match between Wanderers and Silver Strikers on September 23.

According to the FAM’s ruling, Gondwe was given 48 hours to respond to the charges, but he failed to do so within the stipulated timeframe.

In response, Gondwe has announced that he will not appeal to FAM but will instead take the matter to the High Court of Malawi.

This decision sets the stage for a legal battle over the fine.
