Leader of opposition Kondwani Nankhumwa who is also Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Vice President for the South has said he is ready to challenge former President Peter Mutharika at the party’s convention.

The development comes barely two days after former President Mutharika declared his interest to contest again as President in the forthcoming 2025 polls.

“Let him stand. My position remains that I am going to stand; and not just going to stand but am going there to win,” said Nankhumwa.

Nankhumwa said that it is even better that President Mutharika wants to contest as history would repeat itself, for he (Nankhumwa) has never failed any election.
