Finance Minister, Maxwell Mkwezalamba, has announced today that with immediate effect government has suspended all trips of public servants including the President herself who has been much known for being on the road always.

According to the minister, the development follows the suspension of aid from Malawi’s donor partners under the Common Approach Budgetary Support.

The minister has said that only those that are deemed as crucial journeys are what will be taken by public servants and even in those crucial journeys there will be strict measures put in place.

He further disclosed that the development will affect all people in public service including the President, Cabinet Ministers and all other officials that travel on government budget. It is yet to be known if the President will respect this considering her travel for travel.
