Super League of Malawi (Sulom) Disciplinary Committee has slammed Blue Eagles with a K4.5 million fine for various counts following incidents that spoiled a TNM Super League match between the team and Ekwendeni Hammers at Mzuzu Stadium on July 2.
In the determination released by SULOM, Blue Eagles have been charged for 3 cases, K1.5 million for failing to control the actions of their officials.
In the Case of Assaulting match officials, five players Sankhani Mkandawire, Tonic Viyuyi, Ranken Mwale, Richard Lapson and Chakonda Majanga have been fined K500,000 each for assaulting match officials.
“The committee further bans Mwale for four games with immediate effect in the Super League for his deplorable conduct and starring role in the whole fracas,” reads the determination which Sulom General Secretary Williams Banda has signed.
SULOM has also fined Assistant coach Christopher Sibale K500,000 for bringing the game of football into disrepute,
However, Eagles goalkeepers-trainer Chimwemwe Chitedze was acquitted due to insufficient evidence over his alleged involvement in the mayhem.
According to the committee all fines should be paid within 14 days and any party which is in against the determination has a right to appeal within 48 hours on payment of the requisite appeals fees.
