Chikondi Chijozi, a prominent human rights lawyer, has been elected as the chairperson of the eighth cohort of the Malawi Human Rights Commission (MHRC).

The decision was officially announced in a statement signed by MHRC’s Executive Secretary, Habiba Osiman.

This appointment aligns with section 6 (1) of the Human Rights Commission Act. The new cohort comes into play after a six-month gap following the conclusion of the previous cohort’s tenure.

Chijozi’s leadership is expected to bring fresh perspectives to the MHRC’s work in promoting and protecting human rights in Malawi.
