Former Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Vice President for Central Region Zelia Chakale has finally joined the Malawi Congress Party (MCP).

Chakale resigned from the party in September citing personal reasons.

“I step down as VP Central Region. I write to inform you that I’ve stepped down as VP Central Region on personal grounds.

“I thank the President for entrusting me with such a noble position of the party at the time when there was need. I’ve done my part,” said Chakale.

Chakale has been welcomed into the MCP fold by the party’s Secretary General Eisenhower Mkaka and some party top official including Minister of Water Abida Mia.

Speaking at the briefing Chakale said she has joined the party with an aim of supporting President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera.

She said Chakwera is developing the country hence the need to support him.
