Councillor for Blantyre City Soche East Ward Leonard Chimbanga who is also Democratic Progressive party (DPP) National Governing Council (NGC) Executive Member has said that the party is not worried with the defection of Zelia Chakale to Malawi Congress Party.
Chakale, former DPP Vice President for Central Region joined MCP together with Umodzi Party President Professor John Chisi on Friday morning in Lilongwe.
Writing on his official facebook page Chimbanga said DPP practices an open door policy.
“DPP has an open door policy and is undergoing self-cleansing. I know there are some amongst us who are still working for the enemy. Feel free kunyamuka Nanu. Tiyambe chaka cha mawa opanda nyunsensi.
“In 2012 after the death of the late President Bingu Wa Mutharika DPP found itself in the Opposition. They left and joined the then ruling Party 2 years later DPP bounced back. History is about to repeat itself. Let them go,” wrote Chimbanga.
On her remarks after being welcomed into MCP Chakale hailed Chakwera’s leadership.
“I am thankful for being welcomed, and I am here to stay. I started with DPP during Bingu’s time. I was just being used by the party as it fought its enemies,” said Chakale.
Chakale resigned from DPP in September this year.
