Surestream oil company, the company that was mandated to explore the possibility of oil mining in Lake Malawi, has said that its oil exploration on the Lake are going on well despite there existing a wrangle between Malawi and Tanzania over the ownership of the lake.
According to local media reports, Surestream has further indicated that by end February next year, the oil exploration will take on a new force altogether as there will be planes and other machinery used in the oil exploration.
Lake Malawi has been alleged to have oil deposits owing to its lying in the Great African Rift Valley region which is known for oil deposits. Ever since the issue of the possibility of having oil in the Lake surfaced, Malawi has failed to be at peace with Tanzania which claims ownership of about 50% of the lake.
