Police in Lilongwe have arrested a 26- year- old man, Jackson Chitimbe, on suspicion of being behind a series of motorcycle robberies in Lilongwe.
Lilongwe police spokesperson, Hastings Chigalu, said they have so far managed to recover five bikes that were stolen.
According to Chigalu, they have been receiving complaints on robberies in Kaphiri, Areas 1, 36 and the By pass road.
Four of the motorcycles were recovered at Mchinji Boma and Kamwendo Trading Centre, and the fifth one within Area 36, Lilongwe.
Chigalu said that the search for Chitimbe’s friends who is reported to have fled to Zambia is ongoing.
Chitimbe is expected to appear in court soon to answer robbery charges.
The suspect hails from Kafera village, Traditrional Authority, Mkanda in Mchinji District
